Roman's First BIrThDaY..........Texas style.

We celebrated Roman's first birthday this past weekend. We had a COWBOY party and had a great time celebrating with our friends and neighbors.

We had so much fun celebrating Roman's 1st birthday. We were really touched so many of our friends were able to spend the afternoon with us, having such great friends around made being away from our extended family much easier. If you were able to make it, THANK YOU....if you couldn't join us no worries, we will do it again next year :)

Cliff Note Version of the Summer

Hi blog friends! We have had a busy summer, which means not much time for blogging! I may need to come up with a "Feature Friday" or maybe a "Thursday Thriller" you get the idea. For now, here is our summer in pictures:

Father's Day 2010

Brian and Roman celebrated their first official Father's Day this year. I really wanted the day to be special for Brian, the way I see it there are a limited number of Father's Days that I will have control over. Eventually Brian will be the proud owner of a finger paint picture and the "World's Best Dad" tee shirt. I'm sure he will love the days that Roman plans just as much as this one....

Roman and I made a special breakfast (doughnuts) where Brian opened his gifts...he and Roman are showing them off. He also got to drink coffee out of his brand new mug. He will be the envy of the office with that one for sure!

Then it was off to church, followed by dinner at a local burger joint with our good friends Keven and Jes.

I was even nice enough to change the very dirty diaper that Roman left for us in the restaurant parking lot solo...Brian was very grateful for that particular "gift"....and I'm sure you are grateful that there is no picture! All in all it was a great day!

My Campaign for a New Camera Starts Today

Today is Roman's 8mth birthday, and yes I wish I got to have a birthday every month too! Each month I celebrate our special day by taking pictures of Roman in the same chair with the same toy. What can I say, we really know how to party around here! I typically take a few extra shots for his album of our daily goings on...I thought I had a few award winning shots. I thought this because the screen on my camera told me so, however at closer inspection Gary Olsen would not approve! Check them out....feel free to e mail my husband and let him know that you agree. We obviously need a new camera...

I Keep Biggering and Biggering....

I haven't posted anything in FOREVER! I was thinking maybe the whole blog thing wasn't for me, but at a Memorial Day cookout I found myself professing my love of blogs. I thought it deserved another chance. SO, here are Roman's 7 mth birthday pics....and yes, your math is correct...Roman is now 8mths old, but I told you it had been FOREVER. I promise to post his 8mth photos soon!

At 7mths Roman is a great sitter. He is able to sit on the floor and play with his toys for a good while. I've loved this new ability! He can see a few more things and he just looks so darn cute doing it!

At 7mths Roman weighs in at about 21lbs. We didn't have a doctor's appointment this month, so I can't give you the percentile...but I can tell you he is a big boy! I can say that with authority because when I tell older women how old he is they ALWAYS respond with, "Oh wow, such a BIG boy!"

At 7mths Roman is not crawling....and it is a-okay with us! He is able to get around using the roll and rotate method of travel. He rolls to what he wants and once he gets there he does a hand over hand maneuver to turn in a circle....kind of like an alligator :) 

At 7mths we are trying to soak up all of the baby goodness we can. We know it won't be long before he will be running around the house and we will wish he was still doing the old roll and rotate.

I'm not sure who has more fun on the slide, us or Roman. I'm guessing Roman, Brian and I don't exactly fit the way we used to!
